The 2015 Barbera Monleale is packed with inky, super-ripe red/purplish fruit, leather, spice, game, licorice and incense. Exuberant but also a bit rustic, the 2015 delivers tons of flavor intensity and plenty of personality. Vintage: 2015 Country: Italy Region: Piedmont Appellation: Colli Tortonesi Grape: Barbera Farming: Organic Drink: Now-2028

Had this vintners Timarosso same night & both lived up to the hype. A decade of age has made this Barbera blend a deep, soulful expression which I had not yet experienced in such a blend. Game, ripe ripe cherries sing once a decent decant tames the initial shrillness & one note balsamic dimension. Special, for old school fans.

Peppery plum is really shining through on this one. Red licorice and dried spice accents. Tannic grape skin gives it some grip. Long raisin finish. Like the Sun-Maid boxes I ate as a kid. A little sweet for me, but still good quality. Also added some to the passata I’m making from heirloom tomatoes, and it’s quite nice.

Surprisingly light and sweet, round, pleasant to end an evening

I like this! Barbera, but not too tart with some earthy rusticity. I would not have picked this as Barbera. Tasted Italian, but not your typical Barbera.
