Olga Raffault Chinon Cabernet Franc Rosé 2022

$24

The queen of Cab Franc rosés from the queen of Chinon!  Raffault's rosé is deep, structured and herbaceous in the way that only Cab Franc can be, but still retains plenty of freshness to keep it light.  For those of you with willpower, let it go a year and the flavors will explode!   Vintage: 2022 Country: France Region: Loire Appellation: Chinon Grape: Cabernet France Farming: Organic Drink: Now-2024

The 2022 Rosé is distinctly savory, nearly smoky, with a blend of bouquet garni, crushed peaches and wet stone. A tinge of minerality up front enhances its tart orchard fruits, adding a crisp, almost crunchy sensation as sour citrus punctuates the close. It tapers off with a spicy and wonderfully fresh saline tension, leaving just a subtle trace of licorice to fade. (Eric Guido, Vinous, June 2023)

Orange blossom and salted cantaloupe rind. Soft and airy. Perhaps my favorite Loire producer.
