The Southwest is perhaps France's last great wine region that is still totally underappreciated. It's full of super geeky, utterly delicious wines like this beauty from L'Enclos des Braves in the Gaillac. Made from the Duras grape (yeah, that grape that everybody's TOTALLY familiar with), this darkly-fruited, herbaceous, mineral, savory little beauty is medium-bodied, juicy and remarkably fresh. Lovely! Vintage: 2021 Country: France Region: Sud-Ouest Appellation: Gaillac Grape: Duras Farming: Organic & Biodynamic Drink: Now-2028 ABV: 13.5%

Enjoyed it! Quoting from my local shop which I think is right: “this rascal of a wine fully showcases the burly/rustic elements of Duras (100%), with a dark, textured fruit, which is packed with deep, savory/herbaceous nuance, and an intensely mineral core. Despite the power, the overall feel is rather nimble, thanks to smaller-scale, elegantly integrated tannin.”
