Long a favorite of ours here at MCF, Tomares's Reserva is as old school/traditional as it gets. Richly textured, with bright red fruits and beautifully balanced integration of the French Oak, this textbook Rioja is beautiful now, and will age gracefully for a decade plus. Vintage: 2018 Country: Spain Region: Rioja Appellation: Rioja Reserva Grapes: Tempranillo 80%, Graciano 10%, Mazuelo 7%, Viura 3% Drink: Now-2040 ABV: 14%

2018 vintage. Took a big position-15 cases-with the 2015 vintage that rolled in at...you guessed it...$15 a bottle resto cost. That one had barely lighter medium body with a roasted nuts and Chambord thing going on and was absolutely delicious for the ridiculous price. The 2016 vintage was equally nice and similar notes/texture/pricing. This 2018 vintage is dirtier, more robust and slightly pricier. Will hop on this train in a few months after we clear out a different Spanish offering. 2.26.26.
