Baga is given the delicate treatment here, and a light pressing yields a pale salmon-hued wine. It is made into a sparkling wine via the Champagne method, resulting in something elegant, crisp, mineral and savory with small, fine bubbles. The aging adds texture to the palate, elongating the finish. Vintage: 2013 Country: Portugal Region: Bairrada Appellation: Bairrada Grape: Baga Farming: Organic Drink: Now-2026

Quite good, and for the price of a decent Prosecco. My first sparkling wine from Luis Pato, and my first sparkling Baga. Pink-orange in color, subtle fizz, and very acidic. A little bit funky, maybe from the age. Update: I tried a second bottle, and it was much less funky. The first one must have been off, even though it’s sealed with a bottle cap. Another update: Really hit and miss per bottle. My third was flavorless and pungent. Not reliable at this point.
