The absolutely irresistible Satyricon 2022 is, perhaps, the biggest outlier expression of all the wines. I know I've been throwing around the word 'elegance' a lot today, but if it applies anywhere, it's here. This version of Tecce's young-vine Aglianico, normally densely-packed, darkly mineral and tannic, is darkly mineral and savory, yes, but is somehow mostly defined by its energetic, briny finesse. Normally this wine needs 3-5, but this is, as I said, irresistible. Vintage: 2022 Country: Italy Region: Campania Appellation: Campania Aglianico IGT Grape: Aglianico Farming: Organic/Biodynamic Drink: Now-2035

Tecce is one of my favorite Italian producers. The 2022 Satyricon doesn’t disappoint. Opens up after 3-4 hours. Dried flowers, cherries and charcoal on the nose. Lovely aromatics. Tart cranberries with blackberries. Sharp minerality, mouth-puckering tannins, astringent, dry, dusty and savory long finish. Very long. Young. 14.5% abv, but it doesn’t feel overly full or heavy. I remember the 2020 being darker and more fruit-forward, but I could be wrong.
