Le Pianelle Bramaterra Nebbiolo Vespolina 2016
Le Pianelle, a collaboration that includes local viticultural genius Andrea Zanetta and the preeminent winemaker of the entire region, Cristiano Garella, is a wonderful estate producing classic, classic expressions of Alto Piemonte. This 2016 Bramaterra is just coming into its own, with textbook, high-toned structure, and elegant, dark, herbaceous fruits. While it'll easily last another decade at least, it's really beginning to show its stuff now. Nose is intense cherry and cherry lipstick. A hint of pine. Palate is crunchy cherries. Deep dense fruit. Very delicious. Some spice. More densely fruited than the average alto Piemonte wine.
