Ermes Pavese Blanc de Morgex et de la Salle Prié Blanc 2020
The lovely Blanc de Morgex of Ermes Pavese is made of 100% Prié Blanc and is a textbook Aoste white. High toned, aromatic, zippy, floral and grassy, this is a classic Italian 'mountain white', and one of the great cheese whites you'll encounter, especially when paired with the alpine cheeses of the region. Exploring the bouquet of the 2020 Blanc de Morgex et de La Salle is like standing beneath a waterfall, taking in all the moist air, wet stone and flora that surrounds you. It’s soft-textured and round, pleasing to the palate with ripe orchard fruits and a subtle savory-saltiness that balances. N: Orange blossom special. Herbs( I guess you might say alpine) Straw, rocks. P:Zing! Bright acidity melts into an herbal, mineral bath. Very forward.(front part of the under palate) Young winemaker working near Mt. Blanc in Valle’e D’Aoste. An interesting Feb. quaff for sure, I could see a case going fast in the warm weather. Pre-phylloxera Prié Franc, a new grape to me.

Really enjoyed. One of the more unique wine bottles I’ve seen, which is fun - but more importantly the wine has great balance, hint of fruit, wonderful refreshing green apple acid.
