One of the all time great 'insider gems', Trevallon's Alpilles Rouge, a 50/50 blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah from the craggy limestone soils of Les Beaux de Provence is, perhaps, the greatest Bordeaux-meets-Rhône wine on earth. It's classic, restrained, structured and mineral, and ages as well as any wine from either of those two famous regions, too. Very ripe and delicious. This is the youngest vintage I’ve had (along with the other bottle from last year) that I’ve had. Mostly have had older vintages like 10-20 years old which show quite differently. Thinking about holding the rest of the case in the back of my cellar for at least 5 more years.
