Alain Brumont's Château Montus is SW France's most storied winery, and their Tannat-based Madiran reds will ably stand next to the great wines in the world. The Cuvée Prestige is their top wine made of 100% Tannat, and released only after enough bottle-age for it to be ready to drink in the estate's eyes. This 2000 is fantastic. The unique micro climate of Madiran made for a fabulous vintage. Dark, rich, powerful, savory and intensely mineral, it's textbook Madiran and a beautiful example of the brilliance of Montus.
