The old standard for Santa Barbara, Au Bon Climat is a legendary American winery, created by the late legend Jim Clendenen. The Isabelle Pinot Noir is his more Burgundian expression of Pinot that still sings beautifully of its California roots. It's a blend of various sites from all over CA, ranging from the Anderson Valley, to Sonoma, to further south. It's bright, beautifully perfumed, lithe and wonderfully deep. One of CA's great Pinots in every vintage it's produced. Vintage: 2019 Country: USA Region: California Appellation: California Grape: Pinot Noir Drink: Now-2028

The 2019 Pinot Noir Isabelle is bright and effusive, with tons of aromatic presence and fine balance. Sweet red cherry fruit, orange peel, spice and dried herbs open first, followed by a host of perfumed floral notes that lead into the mid-palate and finish. The 2019 is silky and quite elegant, all it really needs is another year or two in bottle to come into its own. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, August 2022)
