Very pretty aromas. Quince, white flowers, lemon, gooseberries, a hint of lactic richness, also with salt spray nose. Chablisien. But the volume on the palate is more villages than GC. Not getting Cali terroir so much as old world *stylings* ie grapes picked way early. Normally I’m in line with AG but can’t get behind the score here.

The 2019 Chardonnay Trout Gulch is fabulous. Palpable energy and tension drive a core of crushed rocks, lemon confit, mint and white flowers. Intensely saline, tense notes really bristle in this magnificent Santa Cruz Mountains Chardonnay. The 2019 is naturally very young, but it is stellar. Dried flowers, sage, mint and dried herbs linger. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, January 2021)

Gonna gulch this down! Clean and crisp, great harmony, just a very precise Burgundian style chard!
