Still drinking great, packed with ripe, jammy fruit, a huge nose, and solid structure with just enough tannin, acid and hints of pepper to make this a very lively, balanced wine. Sadly, the last of my 2014s but the Old Vines is good year-in and year-out at a reasonable price.

One of two ‘entry level’ zins from Turley, who I think is the best in the business with Zinfandel. As always, this is a blend of small but excellent vineyards with vines put to 130 years old. The nose is almost overwhelming right out of the bottle, full of dark berry, plum and violet. It’s levels by nice acidity and mellow tannins with some mineral flavors creeping in as it aired. A staple in my cellar.

Big, bold, beautiful. Lush blackberry fruit, slightly plummy. Briary. Finish is rich, long, and creamy. And hot. You can feel the alcohol (15.5%!!!) but it’s not off-putting.

I don’t buy much Turley and have not for a couple of years but this brings me back. As “simple” as this may be, it’s terrific and a wonderful QPR. Next offer, I’m buying.

I bought this for my sister's birthday & I was happy she shared a taste with me. I would love to try the dogtown, the whitecoat or the amadeo. But I live in Vermont & I doubt I'll find any of those for sale up here.
