Popped and poured; consumed over the course of a few hours. The 2021 Sandlands Zinfandel pours a beautiful ruby with a fuchsia rim and a transparent core; medium+ viscosity with light staining of the tears. No signs of sediment. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of bright black bramble fruit which begin to show more like perfectly ripe red raspberries with more air, licorice, finely ground black pepper, sandy minerals and soft baking spices. On the palate, he wine is dry with medium tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The wine has a medium+ finish and gives an overall impression of freshness with a lovely vein of minerals. Better with air but enjoyable now; just needs some patience. I anticipate upside. This should drink very well through 2036. Once again, proof that distinctive Zinfandel can be made from Lodi.
