Finally uncoiling a bit. Still tight as can be, but better than a bottle from a year ago.

With Higgins cassoulet so delicious. Pork, wine, Higgins... It's a Portland thing. Gonna lock this in the cellar for 5 more years after today.

#2005 #LaGeynale #Cornas #RobertMichel My favorite grape, #Syrah from my favorite region, #NorthernRhone ❤️ The Deep, dark purple/red color seduces you before your lips even touch the glass. "You had me at Hello..." (is what I may have said out loud actually)

Goodness nearly 12 hours into my birthday; Cornas is the perfect intermezzo. Spicy, bright £ crunchy garnet hues.

I heard rumors that this vintage has really come out of its shell, and I was pleased to find the rumors true. Dark, dark Syrah fruit. Sweet, deep and intense for a Michel wine, but open. Several great producers have studied under Robert Michel, including Thierry Allemand. I love his wines and it's always tough popping these bottles since he retired in 2006.
