Liqueur like. Some lightly toasted marshmallow. Preserved lemon. Medium acid. This is the Tondonia Blanco. @Delectable Wine barely managed to post after half a dozen tries, now won’t let me correct the identified wine.

Nose has oxidized pear slice, browning butter, toasted salt, candied pineapple, beeswax, toasted pistachio and dry crushed granite. Palate has dried apricot, dried lemon peel, dehydrated green apple slices, toasted ginger, un-salted cashew, (minor) tangerine juice, (minor) vanilla oak notes, yet while showing zingy acidity and a never ending finish. Weighty and light on the palate, simultaneously. Always one of our favorites in the RLdH lineup, the Blanco's will and can age for decades. This bottle should be close to the current release. 90% Viura / 10% Malvasía; Decanted 3 hours. Amazing wine...I NEED to find the Gran Reserva, but need much more of this one! A perfect wine to end cap a long weekend, Labor Day (US), or any weekend really!

So surprising. A vintage with wine with wood. With a unique aroma and a so long final

90% Viuria, 10% Malvasia from La Rioja Alta, Tondonia is a very well respected family that's been making wine for royalty there for centuries. They developed the superb 2007 Viña Tondonia Blanco Reserva following the founder of López de Heredia's admiration for the wines of Graves, France - renowned for their austere and dry whites. 2007 was a very good vintage in Rioja, much better than anticipated with perfect weather in the months prior to harvest. Hand destemmed and aged for 6 years in new Spanish oak. The wines are evolving slowly and in a positive way. This has such fresh aromas of peaches and dried pears, dried apricot pit, as well as some fresh almonds and lemon pith in the mix. So youthful. The palate is beautifully fresh and super long, full of energy and lively grapefruit and lemon. Silky texture and a smooth, lightly toasted almond and beeswax finish, with a hint of salinity. María José López de Heredia considers 2007 a great vintage for their wines—extraordinary.
