Disappointing follow-up to the 17’ SF Felseneck. I blame it mostly on the vintage. It was not necessarily fat, but it was rounder than the Felseneck, and just lacked the Felseneck’s intensity and tension. Fresh, smoky, spicy, and quite mineral, it was still a pleasant wine though it struggled to stand out among its peers on the table. Perhaps more time would help develop more depth and definition, but I’m inclined to say it would never surpass the other whites on the night.
