Popped and poured, no formal notes. At this stage, I find the 2019 "Le Bas de Chapelot" to be absolutely delightful, if not a bit of an outlier. I write that as a compliment because this gives me 1er cru vibes despite the more humble "Chablis" designation. In actuality, the source for this bottling sits just below Montée de Tonnerre and when you consider that all of Eleni and Edouard's wines see a little bit of oak, it makes sense. This is wine of great character. It's got lovely citrus leaning fruit with some stone fruits and pomaceous fruit along with a touch of flower honey and a leesy quality that adds palpable texture on the palate. The acid and limestone minerals are there and bring balance to the force. Drinking well now and should continue to do so for many years to come. I wish this was more widely available to me as I would be reaching for it often. Definitely a producer I'm keeping my eye on. Drink now through 2029.

The 2019 Chablis Le Bas de Chapolot seems to have more horsepower on the nose compared to the 2020. This really sings with orange blossom, white peach and touches of linseed. The palate is beautiful – well defined, quite showy and forward, with fine weight and tempting peach, elderflower and light mango notes. Long but not necessarily minerally on the finish. Lovely. (Neal Martin, Vinous, October 2021)

It’s more robust than typically expect from Chablis but ample lemon and acidity.

Super. Refined, crisp as a Chablis but not a tart acid bomb like some.

Excellent. There is oak adding more body and roundness than some Chablis, but still with that flinty salty tail. And combined with a great lemony acidity and fruit.

Citrus sour compared with previous vintage. Oak and rich. 2019 is best among them I drank before. Good match with sea food. Eleni & Edouard Vocoret Chablis La Bas de Chapelot 2019 @1420, domaine -, 211008-211231
