Château Simone of Palette, located high in the hills south of Aix-en-Provence, produces hauntingly beautiful reds, whites, and rosés. Rich pine forests and limestone soil dominate this mysterious landscape - one which bears very little resemblance to the greater Provence region. The entire range at Château Simone carries the common thread of elegance and supreme ageability. The 2010 vintage has unfolded gorgeously, and is just entering its prime drinking window. The red here is comprised primarily of Grenache, Mourvedre, and Cinsault, with small amounts of old vine Syrah.

See, with some time and a double decant, not the youngest rosé can be kind.

This 2010 Palette Rouge is harmoniously balanced and was perfect with duck breast. Great now (with some tannic backbone) and will be very long-lived.
