Wow wow, I've had this vintage of Lafite 4 times and every time it blows me away with it's classic cab aroma and extraordinary elegance and subtle flavors

2000 Lafite was shockingly showing more mature than I expected, lots of tertiary notes. Many wines like this can hit a plateau where it can sit for over a decade or more in this same state of enjoyment, then get even better. The 2005 outclassed the 2000 in pure enjoyment as the youth of its character allied with a supremely fragrant nose captured my senses' full attention. #cousins #pauillac #bordeaux #wine

2005 vintage. Wowzers. Never been the biggest Lafite guy. Have had all the big vintages since/including 1961 but never been officially “wowed” or wowzered by Lafite. Achievement unlocked. Decanted and tasted after 2.5 hours. Threw a pretty respectable amount of sed. Cork was pristine. Nose was slightly more forward upon a high decant than usual. Light-medium body. Great, underlying richness flowing through from start to finish. An incredible 45 second denouement. Showing fantastically currently but no rush to crush. This ain’t goin nowhere. 11.5.23.

Perfect balance. A bit more fruit than the Margaux but much more stable over time, good throughout best after 30 minutes of decanting
