Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of one week. Consistently enjoyable throughout but it seemed to be at its very best around Day 3 through Day 7 (when I enjoyed the last pour). The 2010 pours, a deep garnet color with a near opaque core and showing some slight rim variation; medium+ viscosity and moderate staining of the tears with some sign of sediment. On the nose, the wine is developing with tart and ripe notes of cassis, plums, tobacco, Fresno chilis, purple flowers, dry leaves, organic earth and faint baking spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The fruit is a touch more tart on the palate and there is also a sort of dry leather note that I didn’t get on the nose. The finish is medium+. A mesmerizing, dense wine that certainly has a very long road ahead. Great stuff. Drink now with patience through 2050 (assuming good cellar conditions).

Much more primary nose, sick nose, deeper and layered than 1996, so fine, so refined, floral and tar and tobacco. There is a vastness to aromas. Sicko complex. 9.8 nose. More concentration, more purity. This groks the 96. Wow. Best BAMA I’ve ever had.

Whew—not for the impatient. Crazy backward at first but after many, many hours of air opened up to reveal stunning strawberries, cedar, black tea and leather. Lighter style but tons of structure and high toned acidity, perhaps more akin spiritually to a traditionalist Barolo than a modern (read: inky, purple, oaky) Bdx. Will definitely seek out again. This fresh prince of Bel-Air is kicking it old school and it is a breath of fresh air.

Moist earth, clay and rose on the nose. Subtle nose, never really giving. Some pencil shavings. Palate is rose petals. A stern, lean, acidic, food friendly style with not much of a hint of the vintage’s heat. Iron on the long finish.

First time trying this. Opened 8 hours before and decanted for 4, which I’d suggest at this stage. I don’t think I would have guessed Bordeaux blind, probably would have gone something from Piedmont. Not actually giving a ton on the nose, but quite nice and deep plum / purple fruited / leathery on the palate. Hauntingly balanced finish that goes on and on. Very nice.
