Radiant orange tint on garnet. Meaty with plum and fig, raspberry with pipe tobacco and pine tar with a sweet burnt rye aspect. There are subtle strawberries and black cherry, blood orange flambè, and dried violet on the nose. Dried raspberry and blackberry, cranberry tannin combo, wolf berry, red currant and smoke. What a beauty! Tart cherry, a touch of cinnamon, wilted flowers, a saline, rocky note and touch of orange peel. A hint of leather. Aetheric & enticing. And evolving. On the palate this is more austere than in the nose. Zippy cherry acidity, present yet super finely grained tannins, the fruit only in the background. So food friendly. And intriguing. And delicious. I think this is in the perfect drinking spot right now. Delish!

The most Burgundian Nebbiolo I’ve come across. Stunning nose. Rustic barnyard notes, iron, cherry, kirsch, tobacco, and nutmeg. Lifted, perfumed, yet slightly funky. Dry, but not Barolo dry. Acidity adds vibrancy and balance. Minerality, slightly underripe red fruit. Cranberry and chalk. Lingers on the finish. So good.

2016. Light ruby, lighter-bodied Barolo from Conterno’s 2018 purchase of northern Piedmont (Gattinara) property. Elegant and well-made, with firm tannins and good acidity, but just too light for my taste. Thin dried cherry fruit, with little mid-palate weight, even after many hours of decanting. $43-45.

Bästa nebbiolon på länge. Nedtonad men ändå väldigt komplex. Bra syra och inbäddade tannniner. Nedtonad frukt, men rosor, nypon, te, rök, mineral ger en mycket fin helhet. Kan lagras men är riktigt fin nu.

Nose is elegant but dense. Palate is elegant. Great cherries. Very good balance. Some licorice flower. Nice licorice flower finish. As this aerates it dissipates a bit.
