Ludovica (known as "Ludo" among friends) and her husband Antonio produce a tiny amount of artisanal wine from 20 acres of high-elevation vineyards just outside Panzano in Chianti. The Fabbri family started making wines around 1850, with the matriarch Paolina passionately developing the business until her passing at the age of 90 years. Ludo now carries on the winemaking heritage of her great grandmother. This wine has a gorgeous ruby red color with fresh red berries on the nose, characteristic black cherry on the palate with a touch of dried herbs and spices.

We met the winemakers at a tasting. Delightful couple, and a beautiful wine. The riserva was also excellent.
