Fans of lighter-style Pinot Noir wines will find this Rossese di Dolceaqua red wine quite fascinating. High above the Mediterranean sea near Dolceaqua in Liguria, Maurizio Anfosso dei Mancinei and his family tend the Rossese grapes growing in their Galeae vineyard each year, entirely by hand, in hopes of sufficient harvest for a good vintage. It's back breaking work during the harvest, and the result of their toil is a genuine gift for us: an earthy, herbal red with delightful aromas and flavors of pie cherries, all with the characteristic salty minerals found in Med wines around these parts.

Juicy, pretty, expressive. Very Grenache-like flavors and energy.

Continue to like Rossese, and this is a nice one. Lighter bodied - sort of Italy’s answer to loire cab franc. Tons of tart cherry - really tons of red fruit. Good acid. A bit simple perhaps quite tasty.
