It's made from the quirky but very fun Pelaverga grape grown on Fabio Alessandria's Verduno estate just north of La Morra in Piedmont. Light-bodied with a captivating melange of red cherries, crabapple, hints of red roses, a touch of clove and allspice – This is yummy stuff, very fresh and the best provenance you'll find (unless you go visit Fabio at his cantina).

Not as pretty as the 2014. Nice red fruits, herbs, low tannins. Surprised to see 14% on the label as this drinks quite light. Touch of bitterness in the finish but the wine really fleshes out with 45mn of air. This is a real enjoyable wine.

My first Pelaverga ever(no pun intended), fortunately it doesn't taste like one. But it grows on you, lol. About the wine it tastes like a Barolo, with juicy Maraschino cherries, currants and a smidge of spicy Angostura bitters. From hitimewine.net
