Med body, silky texture, red cherry and raspberry, hint of black pepper and savory herbs note. Delightful and juice.

Deep purple color. Blackberry, plum on the noise. Lingering taste of pepper. Not sweet. Medium alcohol. Medium tannin, medium body. Had with Meals by Genet takeout. Date night.

Sumptuous, brooding wine that recalls medieval portraits of ripe fruit. Black cherry, mushroom, black pepper. Multilayered like the understory of a tree - forest floor and violets. Bright acidity and long silky tannins. Zupahhhh gud!

Bought this for fun and wow did it deliver! Gorgeous ripe cherry with leather and funk, great acidity and long silky tannin finish. Super complex for the price.

I really admire the line up of Rosi Schuster’s Austrian wines. That said, this Zmeigelt simply misses the plot. Overly extracted—as if Michael Rolland was at hand—this 12.5 % ALC reeks of alcohol with a clumsy backbone of indistinguishable fruit. Perhaps a settling in bottle for a few years will help out. I certainly hope so. I’m a Schuster fan. My score is based entirely on where the wine currently drinks. (EIGHTEEN hours in: my, what a little air can do to a wine. The overbearing alcohol has completely disappeared while the once syrupy dense fruit bomb is much more constrained and shows better harmony with the still too pronounced oak barrel influence. Perhaps the rewards of this wine will be found with some cellar patience. Upped the score to 85.)

Decent for the money. Good value buy. Rather robust style.
