Mature, elegant, balanced, mid-weight on first might, but became lean and a bit shrill on night two. Fully mature now so drink up. Score reflects a bland of both evenings...

Checking in on 2005 #Barolo tonight, the @viettivino Castiglione is showing intense perfumed red fruits and spice on the nose. Notes of pomegranate, tart cherry, clove, leather and rose all formed in the glass. On the palate, a driving-force of concentrated red fruit and spice was bolstered by grippy tannin, while a wave of brisk acidity prompted the taste buds to water, leaving a finish of sweet, fresh cherry, herbal tea, spice and inner floral tones. Still showing its youthful tannin throughout the experience, but this has all the right ingredients to be a true classic in another 5-10 years. To think that this is Vietti's entry level Barolo--Wow.

Okay. Took awhile to open up and then needed food.

So good. Still tannic and powerful, but drinking great with good structure. Cherry and leather primarily, but also nicely earthy.

Lovely to drink now. Could of stayed in the cellar for even longer.

2005- the first sip left the back of my throat/tongue feeling dry. Smelt old but not too old.
