Fun experiment alongside two 1968 Barolo’s. This 61 definitely has seen better days, some 20 years ago I’d say, but was still interesting with sautéed mushrooms, cigar ash and dried flowers.

This and the next 10 wines were opened at 4:45 pm yesterday and left open for almost 4 hours. Not decanted. I then put a cork or stopper in until 4 pm today. All but one showed beautifully. No corked wines. Looked like tea. With air it became a bit more red. Very mature. Tannins resolved, but elegant and beautiful.

Beautifully developed, with preserved fruit. Dried cherry, leather, dried roses and dried rosehips. Very good condition.
