Masterful, per usual. Platt can be enigmatic at times, but with a little air this is ebullient, and transparent in every sense. A notably fragrant, lifted nose of sweet red fruit entwined with savory and floral complexity. The palate shows the same sweetness but also a cool elegance, a silky texture with integrated tannins, and barely perceptible oak; this is classy and light on its feet but not shy. Paired with a mushroom borscht which echoes the vinous, savory complexity of the wine, and walks the same line between delicacy and richness. A gorgeous wine which expresses balance not as a mission statement but as the simple result of gentle treatment from vineyard to bottle.
