My first experience with Laherte’s Extra Brut rosé. I’ve had the Les Beaudiers a few times (loved the 2014 over the 2015), and while that unique champagne has its place (more like a big red burg), this champagne hits the fresh and more typical experience. Deep rose colored. As expected, the meunier here is evident right off the bat with the classical “gummy” flair. Lots of strawberries, Bing cherries, and red candied gummies. Bright and fresh profile, with lively mousse and a mineral streak down the middle. Chalky limestone too. There’s a black cherry vibe at the finish. Not yeasty, but not uber lean either. I’m not sure what extended aging does here, as it seems made to be enjoyed young/fresh. Quite nice.

Good for the price, 100% meunier so more interesting than your average rose

Celebrating Bastille Day with this striking wine - rather deep in color and bone dry emphasizing the earthiness of raspberry, strawberry, red currant, violet, apple, and wet stone. Strong secondary notes of brioche and gaining a bit of dried fruit on the finish. Excellent but so dry it really needs food to show its best. High acidity, long finish

A very pretty champagne in a very pretty package. A beautiful light salmon color. Preciously precise miniature bubbles and a nose that’s as fresh as it is generous. Rose petals and strawberries. Wet soil, dried cherries, and chalk. Blood oranges show after some air along with vanilla and spice. When people ask me what is my favorite rosé, the answer is always unequivocally this lovely 100% Meunier from Aurelien Laherte. Biodynamic and natural, the purity of fruit here is undeniable. Use your big glasses to really give this to space to breathe and you’ll be rewarded. Low dosage of 2.5 but honestly you’ll never feel it. It’s so harmonious and so drinkable that a bottle never really lasts long. Exquisite in the mouth showcasing its vinous nature and charm. More robust fruit on the palate along with salinity and subtle spice. High acidity but not searing with plenty of body. Seriously, just buy these anytime you see them. However many you have just isn’t enough.

Blood orange rind and strawberry tart. Red berries. Excellent buttery pastry notes. Minty. Mousse-y, delicious.
