Piedmont wine tasting: light rusty ruby with bricking at the edges • fragrant, cherry pipe tobacco, roses, tar, oak • cherry liqueur, full bodied, silky tannins, 14.5% ABV • blend of Nebbiolo farmed organically, sourced from the two crus of Brunate and Le Coste in Barolo, fermented with indigenous yeast in tall upright oak vats or tini • the wine is singing right now

My humble contribution to the evening from 750. Forward and powerful but not roasted. A really fine showing for 2003. Also tasted from mag which was considerably more delicate and clearly a different selection...the mag comes in a tick better

Always enjoyed Rinaldi and have always preferred Brunate over Cannubi. From the heat wave vintage, but a great and approachable "simple" offering. I don't get the Northern Lights aromatics, but I'll take the fruit, structure and tannins another 5-7 years and see what happens.
