Cabernet Sauvignon from the Santa Cruz Mountains with a 13.3% alcohol content. Decanted for an hour. Smelled of musky leather and tasted of unripe cherry and red fruits with acidic tannins. Off putting to say the least. Subsequently after coming back to it 40 or so minutes later, it opened up into a different wine. That olfactory perception of musky leather persists, but the opening taste is a more mature expression of dark/red cherries and raspberries. Second notes are herbaceous, hints of leather and concentrated tannins that are felt along the cheeks. Beware of the decanting time and in my opinion for $65 US there are much better options.

Well. Had this about a year ago. Gave it a 10. So 10. What's a 10 anyway. I dunno. But I love it. Fruit forward. Hangs with you. Color rich. Nose of dark fruits, cherries, grapes, blackberries. Wish I had more.
