Nose is a bit subdued out of the gates. Some mineral, some feral, some spice. But palate is full blown awesome 15 in full glory. Dense, juicy, meaty and so packed with dense berry fruit. Long and so fresh, I mean really long. This is so good. I’ll be back as the nose opens up. After 12-15 hours open nose is meaty, minty, granitic, spice, feral, herbs and a hint of sauvage floral.

Bring me some Gilles Verot head cheese and other Lyonnais delicacies. This meaty blue fruited stunner is gorgeous and goes on and on. I can see the Mauves neighborly comparisons. The first time I tried Gonon was at Bar Boulud.

Love the unbridled bloodiness of Marsanne’s St. Jo’s. This is glorious. Olive, garrigue, lavender, blackberry, black cherry, Smokey, feral but so much olive. Unreal. And very aromatic now. Palate is so good and full of 2015 fruit but also insanely young and pretty closed. Serious granitic structure and very pure fruit and typical 2015 extraordinarily long finish.

In a nice place at shade under 10 years. Popped and poured and was surprisingly ready to go, though 30 mins in the glass helped for sure. Nice mouthfeel and density. Tannins are there but very well integrated. Good dark berry fruit and some pepper on the long finish. Delicious with steak and a pork chop at The Grill.

Excellent Saint-Joseph on this 2015. A freshness on the palate, many delicacies with notes of raspberries, strawberries. A delight !
