Plenty dark in the glass with zero bricking. Soft plum, cassis, pipe tobacco and herbal...very similar to a ripe Bordeaux from the mid ‘00s on the nose. The palate has significant amounts of black cherry, blackberry pie, leather, and even some bay leaf. Plenty of tannin and acidity. For those who are waffling on when to open, this is very good now, but I’m hard pressed to say this is way over the hill. Absolutely brilliant right now. Shout out to the man @Martin G Rivard for hooking this up! Just a killer Rhône and I can’t wait to open my ‘12!

Excellent stuff. Still very young and needed time to fully develop in the glass. Rustic and hard edges that smoothed out into something really delicious. Lots of herbs and pepper...

Initially this is a funky, sweaty and a touch oxidized even though it was decanted. After about an hour nose is brighter with cassis, red raspberry and black cherry fruit. There are nice spice, dried herb and mineral elements that accent the fruit. Palate always stays a little rustic with the Cabernet component holding sway with the coarse tannic palate. Fruit is black cherry with both red and black current notes. Good length on the finish. Even after 3 hours, the wine remains slightly rustic, coarse and missing the hedonistic edge I often find in this wine. Based on this bottle, fully ready to drink.
