Remarkably deep color with brown edge. Soft red fruit with hint of tannin. May develop more over next few years.

This second bottle from case was excellent. Needed masses of air. Initially mute & stalky on the nose. With an hour started to wake and at three was singing. Definitely an older style— less precise even at forty years than modern vintages but you could also see where this was heading. Should evolve and improve flavor definition further & further while at plateau for next 10-15 (very youthful). For me characteristic Rouget “iron” terroir note coming through beautifully in mid-palate. Excellent value

Rehearsal dinner wine. Drinking great, earthy on the nose. This was in mag and my son's birth year. Too much going on to take good notes.

Initially bright clean fruit with cedar and earth. Acetone quickly took over and it was swampy.
