Our 2nd wine of the evening Christmas-Eve was the 2003 Château Rauzan-Segla from Margaux. The blend that makes up this wine is 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc. On the nose there was black cherry, black raspberry, black currant, toasty oak, tobacco and earth. On the palate I find bbn lack cherry, black raspberry, black currant, vanilla, mint, graphite and earth. This wine is full bodied with medium + acidity and medium + mouth coating sandpaper tannins that lead into a long dark fruit finish. For the 2nd wine of the evening this was a very nice Left Bank Bordeaux. Stay safe and continue to enjoy the Holidays. Nostrovia!

What a treat! Aged Margaux. Pencil lead, smoky, lean, rich tannins. Just lovely.

This bottle kicks of with scents of Kalamata olives, cigar box, dark butter chocolate, cherry and the great taste of fall forest leaf, with also some After Eights

1.5hr decant. Dark red color with brownish hues that shows the wines age. I would say this is just past prime drinking age. Nose contains violets and cedar as I’ve come to expect from Rauzan Segla. Wine has medium depth with nice cherry fruit, but more wood than I recall from prior bottles. Medium finish. One of my favorite producers!

1 hour decant, but needed more. Dark red color. Awesome nose that mixes earth and smoke with floral elements. Wine is lovely but lacks a little fruit and depth. Finish is massively long and smooths out with air. Great producer!

Fantastically aged bordeaux. Blackcurrant jam, suave tannins and great balance.
