This wine has a beguiling Ruby color that gives away nothing about its age. On the nose, black cherry, cassis, violet, cigar box and a wealth of tertiary aroma including mocha, leather, mushroom and forest floor hint at its 17 year age but the wine is vibrantly youthful. It is surprisingly medium bodied and relatively restrained - not as much power as I expected but it has a finish that seems nearly endless to confirm its pedigree

Celebrated our anniversary with this wine. Very complete but still quite youthful. Very good stuff from a less renowned vintage.

Very ripe cherry to blackberry, a bit more crushed worms smell than usual. Tons of pyrazines on the nose. Fruit seems to be hiding or just not there. Decent acidity and other aromatics but at first just seems off kilter. *****I THINK JUST A BAD BOTTLE

Decanted for 9 hours. Opened up beautifully. Silky, earthy, and full-bodied. Black fruits, cherry, and a bit of smoke and cedar.

Great wine in the making. Come back in 10 more years.

Celebrating my son’s 13th birthday with a 13 year old haut brion. Elegant and balanced. Looking forward to drinking the next bottle on his 21st birthday.
