Beautiful on the nose, vanilla, black fruit and cigar, on the palate cassis, blk berries and dried red fruit...opened up over the course of an hour with such depth I wish they had one more bottle..was last one of this vintage.

Took a bit to open up to some berry notes. Leather and tobacco all the way from the beginning

Even while approaching 30 years old, this bottle still manages to communicate a sense of joy. Full of dried black currants, green tea, and cured meats, this was secondary, tertiary, and the resolved tannins gave it a velvety smooth, uninterrupted texture (d'Armailhac is known for a lighter style, so no surprise the tannins were mostly gone); plus some paulliacian mineral notes showed up as it developed. The juicy acidity kept this bright, arguing this will last a bit more, but I'd drink sooner (in the next 5 years) rather than later, since I don't see this gaining too much more wisdom.
