Showing all the aspects of a grand Bordeaux vintage. It’s velvet, candied floral, ruby; creamed raspberries, blackberries, black raspberries, dark cherries, dry stone, limestone & sandstone, black rich earth, tobacco, used leather, tomato with leaf, elegance defined, well knitted & balanced, dark spice, dry top soil, underbrush, candied florals of; fresh, withering, dark, red, purple and touch of blue flowers. Round acidity for days with a long, ripe, velvet finish persistent that falls into a dry minerality on the long set. Photos of; us spending time learning in the vineyard with our friend & Clerc Milon Winemaker-Jean, Sofia picking the 2012 Chateau Mouton Rothschild Merlot, same day dinner at Chateau Mouton Rothschild sitting with their CEO who was retiring & subsequently ended up running Montrose. Bottom pic is Chateau Clerc Milon. We enjoyed 75 Mouton out of 6L with dinner. The vintage Andy Warhol designed the label. Each artist is given two cases of Mouton as payment if their artwork is selected for their bottle. Our hands are all over the 2012 Chateau Mouton Rothschild & Clerc Milon wines. So, you probably don’t want to buy those or sell them on an auction site if you own.

Classic nose of graphite and cigar box to a medium weight and nicely balanced trip over the palate. Light cherry and vanilla notes but trending to the austere. Drink up.

A great 19 year old Left Bank red, from a great vintage. Shows a pretty ruby color with a wide brick rim. Pronounced nose of blue and black fruits, earth, wet leaves, forest floor, smoke, tobacco, vinaigrette, cocoa and peppercorn. Medium plus in body with medium plus acidity and long legs. Dry, spicy, earthy and gentle with still enough fruits. Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cranberries. Good right out of the bottle and better as it opens up and shows some tannins (90 minutes). Good by itself or with food. I would probably have preferred it 3 years ago. Tasted it blind, and this time got it right

Had a good showing. Not as exuberant as we expected, showing more savory and pencil lead notes. Good dried black fruit and pepper on the palate as well. Holding together extremely well.

Beautiful deep ruby color... spice, cedar and a bit of eucalyptus on the nose. Dark fruit, sweet tannin, spice & a bit of old leather on the palate. A marvelous, big but soft Bordeaux that I suspect will drink well for another 5-6 years.
