1996 Soldera Brunello di Montalcini. Drank after the 1990 Guigal with bbq. Great. This had also been standing up for over a week, which gave a clean flavor to the wine. Not overly sweet, balanced tannins. Great.

wow. couple tums thru a decanter really helped pull this together. maybe age will help the newer ones too. and maybe the rating will help get the value back, ya.... right;-)

1996 Soldera Riserva Brunello. Bday dinner w GD &Y at Il P. Drank this after the '98 Lucien Michel Le Vieux Donjon Chateauneuf-du-Pape. Another big wine-though not quite as peppery or inky as the Syrah. Pretty balanced, but a big punch of green veg and soil on it. Two big wines and we enjoyed them both. Drinking great

1996 Case Basse Di Gianfranco Soldera Brunello. At Charcoal w McC. So different to drink this after the Dujac Chambolle Musigny. This was also tight at first, despite more than an hour of decanting. Vegetal, mineral, dirt- very earthy notes all around. Great w steak.

1996 Riserva Soldera Brunello. Drank w K, DS, and Andy at Toscana. This wine was great w our steak. Hearty, vegetal on the nose, high in acid, it was great w food. We all preferred this to the Gaja.

1996 Soldera Riserva Brunello. Drank at dinner at Il Pistaiao w K, McC, and Judy. Awesome. K loves this wine. To me, it's a bit acidic and tart, but he preferred this to the Gaja, which followed.
