A bit closed at first especially on the nose, but slowly reveals classic Nerello flavors of dried herbs, dried berries and dirt. Needs air, time, and/or food but is nicely balanced with a natural earthy beauty.

An elegant structured Sicilian wine from Faro (extreme NE tip of the island). Kind of like Nebbiolo (with its tar, rose, and bright clear color) meets Sangiovese (with its rich cherry, leather/tobacco, and assertive acidity). A food wine for sure, as Narellos always are. This one has a wee bit of Nocera as well. A fine producer...they make a rosato as well from the same blend - reputed to be the best on the island.

This is a very good wine, and that's coming from someone who is not a huge Nerello fan. Muddled berries and funk on the nose. Tart cherries, dried flowers, leather, tar and smoke on the palate. Crisp. High acidity makes this a great food wine.

I’ve reviewed this before. A fantastic Sicilian blend from the tiny Faro DOC...reminds me of Sangiovese meets Nebbiolo. It’s got the crisp cherry and herbs of the former along with the delicacy and complexity of the latter. Totally needs food...

Delectable Dump from past month: No fake news here, another Faro blend that is the real deal - Nerello mascalese for earthiness and acid, Nero d Avola for the dark red fruits, and some nocera and capuccio to bring it all together in a playful manner. Run to get this bottle!
