Arianna Occhipinti SP68 Terre Siciliane Nero d'Avola Frappato 2018

Bracingly high acidity and grip compared to the 2017. Better after a couple of days. This one needs time. The Frappato is much more approachable.

An initial light roughness gives way to more structure before an ending roughness. An interesting wine.

Lots of complexity and earth to this Italian wine. Well balanced and interesting.

Black cherries and raspberries tossed with edible flowers and dark greens. With a little reminder of the mineral terroir.

My first Frappato and I really enjoyed it. Some fruit and a little funk on the nose. Very light body, with bold, juicy fruit flavors. Balanced with a nice backbone of acidity and some tannins from the Nero D’Avola, this became not only a flavorful wine, but a very cohesive and balanced one with a few hours open.
