90 Points, Wine Spectator: "Pure, rich and firm, with an enticing core of blackberry, black olive, dill and herb flavors, ending with a cedary oak edge. Impressive for the mix of intensity and balance. Drink now through 2032."

Recently grabbed another ‘13, Silver Oak Alexander Valley Cab, produced at their Geyserville estate in Sonoma. Blend of 95% Cab Sauv, 2% Merlot, 2% Cab Franc & 1% Malbec. Aromas of ripe berry fruits, sweet herbs and subtle spice wrapped in a beautiful vibrant Ruby color. On the palate blackberry and cherry flavors with vanilla and candied spice notes sitting in soft oak. Fine smooth tannins, great balance on lingering finish ending with a mineral tang. Got softer but leave in cellar, drink if U R tempted!

Deep garnet with a mix of ruby core. Slightly savory on the nose, a bit dirty too with earthy and woody notes. Dark berries weaved throughout. Similar on the palate with vanilla and black currants. Heavy tannins (7/10) while being smooth and rounded. Full bodied and long finish. Drink till 2030. (92+)

As advertised. Very complex. Wonderful nose of sweet perfume. Intense acidity and pleasantly astringent, chalky and very, very dry and clean. This one has some good legs and it’s deep and full. Not overpowering Slippery mouth feel and an intricate finish. Wonderfully extracted. Probably still needs more time. This is a wine to sip or enjoy with a great steak.

Actually, this is Silver Oak Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. (Image incorrect). Aromas of black fruits, baking spices and soy. Flavors of cooked dark fruits and sweet spices. Dark ruby color. Soft tannins and a whole lot of acidity.

I’ve avoided this for years as an over priced Cali Cab, but it really delivers in 2013.

Wine tasting for the B’Nai Mitzvah. This was our red winner. Still fairly chalky on the finish but overall quite good. Typical higher end CA Cab. This was Jennifer’s favorite red we tried.
