The 1992 vintage is great for sparkling wines of the region. A bit lean and so the acids are…. racy… invigorating. During the bottling of the 1992 it was agreed – the wine is going to need some time. There is a citrus; stone-fruit undercurrent; little flashes of lemon and lime pointing toward Riesling; but really; it’s the most complex; cerebral Sekt release from Lauer with a wild array of herbs and spices; from dark tobacco to sweet peas; cilantro and dill and beyond. The minerality is – as you’d expect from Saar Riesling – brilliant.
Polenta, insane chalk palate. Mind blowing.
