Freemark Abbey Sycamore Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2011

Ratings on Delectable

Sipping Fine Wine Delectable Pro

History began in 1886, when Josephine Marlin Tychson became the first woman to build and operate a winery in CA. The historic site where Josephine's winery, Tychson Cellars, is now known as Freemark Abbey. A blend of 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc & 5% Petite Verdot, aromas of dark fruits, oak and spice. On the palate blackberry, currants, cacao and sweet spice. Full-bodied, tight with layers of fine soft tannins and a long and finish ending with fruit and oak, very pleasant.

Classic single vineyard cab, the Sycamore has considerable depth. Dark fruit with a long tannin rich finish. Could sit longer but very nice now.

Needs some time to open up, large round tannins, some oak on the nose right off, warm red berries, hint of cherry, medium acid, smooth medium finish
