From 375. Gorgeous nose has lifted spicy blackberry, a note of warm, moist gravel, and wood smoke. Still youthfully structured, but displaying great balance and very pure fruit and a nice, restrained minerally note. The finish is all brambly Zin.

Still a stunner. Mellow but concentrated fruit flavors, nice acidity and a medium finish. In a sweet spot right now.

In .375l. Still a bit young and angular, but that is par for the course for Storybook. But it’s already very pleasurable now. Classic Zin scents of rich, spicy blackberry, with warm spice cake notes. A bit tighter than most Zins in the mouth, with nice balance of fruit, acid, and tannin. I’ll try another one in about a year.

Not a big Zinfandel fan but this had enough acid along with not over ripe fruits. Will come back to this wine again and again.

Very closed off night 1. Night 2 it showed more fruit but was still very nuanced for a Zin. I love Zin as a food wine and this is a good option for food pairings.

Half bottle. Storybook Zins are as elegant and claret like as this grape can get. They need age, but I just couldn't wait. Nose tight but giving up scents of just ripe blackberry, campfire embers, and gravelly earth. Tight and structured in the mouth, but so beautifully proportioned that it's clear that it will only improve for at least 5 years. Luckily I have more bottles. The question is whether I have more patience. So it's 9.2+ for now.

Blackberry and dark stewed raspberry on the palate with a little dried herbal character. Medium bodied and good acidity which is the way I like my Zins.
