It is very typical of a #supertuscan wine = deep ruby color, medium(+) aromas and flavours of black cherry, red and black plum and hints of cassis and mint with toasty undertones. The tannins need a little polishing. I believe it needs to age.

Monday evening and tonight I have opened the 2017 Gaja Ca' Marcanda Promis Toscana. This is a blend of 55% Merlot, 35% Syrah and 10% Sangiovese from Castagneto Carducci in Tuscany, Italy. On the nose there is raspberry, strawberry, plum, there is a savory gamey component, baking spices, licorice, pepper, clay and earth. On the palate I am getting cherry, raspberry, red currant, licorice, herbs, lavander, graphite and earth. This wine is medium to full bodied with medium + acidity and medium + firm sandy tannins that has a long fresh red and black fruit finish. The week ahead looks like it is going to be a fantastic week and I am looking forward to it being full of wonderful fall beginnings. Have a great week, please be safe and stay healthy. Nostrovia!

Well.... I’m an idiot. I opened this way to early, but was so curious. It’s a bit closed at the moment (not surprisingly at its age), olive tapenade, dried herbs, plum, dusty minerality, chalk, vanilla, big tannins and noticeable alcohol. Again, my bad for not waiting, will be awesome.

This Promis is way too young, very tight and quite some tannic structure. The difference with the Magari is small although they have different blends. Time might change my score.

I have walked past this bottle in the local Italian market so many times that I finally just grabbed one. This is delicious. Ripe plums, herbs, mint, and orange peel. Happy Friday Eve.

When if first got out of college and got into Med sales like 20+ years ago this was the first “expensive” bottle of wine I bought. Still revisit it at least once a year. Just excellent super Tuscan. With @TigerGFP in Sun Valley.
