Sipping Fine Wine
Had this NV about 2 years ago, tried new batch. Great value sparkler. Contains about 70% Chardonnay with rest Pinot Noir & Pinot Meunière. Pale lemon with aromas of stone fruits, spice and biscuit notes. Lively bubbles with light mousse, medium bodied, apple and pear on the palate, lemon citrus with vanilla notes on nice acidity, well balanced ending with toasty yeasty notes. Nice.

Born in 1973 from French Champagne roots, a blend of about 70% Chardonnay and the rest from Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, same noble grape varieties used in Champagne. Crisp aromas of stone fruit, almonds and citrus scents. Apple and pear flavors with lemon notes in a fine mousse with good bubble flow. Nice texture, well structured, lingering finish ending with nutty mineral tones. Great value. Consistent quality.

Weekly Wine Committee. 1 sparkler, 3-4 whites, 3-4 reds and 1 dessert wine format. Served blind. As this was poured, my first guess was west coast sparkler. As the lunch went on, I couldn’t believe how much I enjoyed it, so I called it French NV. Ha! Very little reductive or bruised notes here I associate with west coast Sparklers. Limestone, Granny Smith Apple, little yeast, and a touch of sweetness on the back.

Happily surprised by the lovely brioche and toasty yeast notes. Not just another fruit driven CA sparkler. Great value!

Life is short; live it up. Bubbles, yeasty nose, crisp and creamy in mouth, with lemon, floral and melon notes, dry finish. You can spend more, but will you have more fun than this?
