Excellent Ripasso, properly made. The grapes aren’t just aged on old skins. Instead, about half the grapes are dried in the sun for a month, just like an amarone, blended with fresher grapes, then aged on old amarone skins. The addition of juice from dried grapes lends an elegant silkiness and depth that I find missing from many other Ripassos. The wine is lively and full with dark fruit and spice. Hints of sweetness can be detected as the wine glides over the palate into a beautiful finish. Well done! 2015 vintage on Jan 30, 2020
