Launched with the 1991 vintage by famous Vega Sicilia estate. The last vintage I tried was the ‘13 & ‘08 before that. 100% Tempranillo, about 14 months in new French oak. Deep Ruby with aromas of dark fruits, spice, floral and earthy oak. Palate shows big ripe blackberry & plum flavors with hints of tobacco & licorice wrapped with oak. Tannins, a bit biting, support the backbone of the wine, needs more bottle age. Well balance with acidity, full body, lingering finish ends with some fruit, oak, spice, and earthy character. Nice!

Love this wine; I’ll probably keep tasting it till the end of my days. Dark, dark ruby color; dark fruit, cassis, leather, and cedar on the nose. The pallet is a beautiful harmony of contrasts with pronounced blackberry, vanilla, with a hint of mocha. Long finish with the grippiest tannings ever. Looking forward to tasting this wine in the far future and seeing it soften up on the finish. Cheers.

We are kicking off the weekend with a beautiful Tempranillo blend tonight. We both ordered the Lobster and Shrimp Fra Diavolo fettuccine. The aromatics of this wine are fantastic. I get a lot of dried flowers and vanilla. Lisa picks up hints of almond extract and bubblegum. I know. Not a traditional note! On the palate there are great tastes of plums, wild berries and maybe strawberries. The tannins are still a little gritty but the acidity is perfect and keeps this wine very balanced. It paired very nicely with the spiceness of the fra diavolo. The finish is long but the tannic grip tells me this wine is still a baby.
